Archery Hunt: The Finale!

So this time Brett and I managed to talk my parents into coming to Hogsheaven with us (finally!) Unfortunately my Grandma Benson got sick the night before our grand adventure, so my mom stayed home to be with her (don't worry! she's just fine).

So Saturday I had to work, but as soon as I was off of work, we were ready to go.  My dad met us at our house, hooked onto the Wildcat, and off we went! We got up to the cabin in time to unload our stuff and get ready for the evening hunt.  While Brett and I went out for the night, my dad stayed at the cabin to visit with Keith, Donna, and Tayler.
Brett and I were just walking through the brush...not really trying to be sneaky or anything...when we stepped out from behind a tree and a little buck was standing there.  Brett saw it first, so I pulled back (it took me two tries to get my bow back because I was so excited), and stepped out from behind the tree, but the buck had already taken off :( Even though I didn't get a shot it was the most excitement I've had hunting since I got my lion about 3 years ago.

Unfortunately that was the end of our hunting adventures, because on the way back to the cabin in the Wildcat...my string on my bow broke :(  It was a sad moment, but I am grateful that it decided to break when I wasn't pulled back.  It definitely could have been a lot worse.
We went back to the cabin, made dinner, and sang to Tayler (it was her birthday), then visited until it was way past everyone's bedtime.
We woke up Sunday and it had started to rain a little.  So we made breakfast and sat around the cabin for a while until it looked like it was going to clear up.  Then we all decided to go to the Saw Mill and show my dad some of the sites.  Well on the way down it started to really rain and the roads got really muddy.  Needless to say we ended up going muddin' without intending too.

We got back to the cabin and decided to hurry, pack up, and leave before the roads got too bad.  Donna and I were really nervous coming out around Cave Creek, because it was so washed out.  So we got out of the trucks and watched as Brett drove the Wildcat across, my dad and Casey drive across, and then we hopped on the back of Keith's truck. We just got in the back so that we could bail out if we needed to ha ha! And the funny part is that Cave Creek wasn't even the worst spot! Well we managed to make it out okay, but we definitely tore up the roads a lot and put some people's driving skills to the test.

We didn't get to show my dad any of the cool places in Hogsheaven, but it was still a blast!
