Our 4th of July weekend started Wednesday when we took the Harley's down to Zion for dinner. Keith and Donna are kind enough to let us borrow the Fatboy once in a while, so we decided to take a road trip with them. It was the first time that Brett and I had taken a motorcycle together anywhere other than just around town, so it was pretty new and exciting to us; Keith and Donna are pros by now. The ride down was hotter than heck! but it was a beautiful drive. We got to Springdale and decided to go to The Bit and Spur for dinner. The drive home was a lot cooler and honestly a little more enjoyable than the ride down. Sorry, but no pictures of this one :(
Last year, for my wedding present to Brett, I gave him a float tube, waders, boots, and flippers...everything that he should have needed to go fishing. It's been almost a year and Brett finally got to take it all out for its maiden voyage. Thursday, Brett and I got together with Chad and Kennan to go up on the mountain and go fishing. We took the side-by-sides up to Kolob Reservoir and met up with a couple that Chad and Kennan are friends with. The weather didn't cooperate very well for us Thursday evening, so after the boys attempted to fish for an hour or two and McKennan and I read magazines on the shore, we went to the Crystal cabin to stay the night. Brett, Chad, and Brandon took Brandon's boys (Ren and Kolton) up to the Big Pond to catch some frogs, while McKennan, Jen, and I got dinner ready. We had yummy stir fry and Navajo tacos and then sat on the porch and swapped stories on the porch until well after dark.

Friday, we all woke up, made breakfast burritos (courtesy of McKennan's packing and Brett's cooking), got our stuff together, and headed back to Kolob to give it another try. The weather was much more cooperative this time. While Brett, Chad, and Brandon fished from their float tubes, McKennan and I caught some sun on our cheapy float tubes. The water was a little colder than expected, but we got use to it pretty quick and it was funner for me than sitting on the shore attempting to fish. Jen stayed on shore and kept the boys entertained by fishing, swimming, and catching crawdads. The fish were not very hungry, so about noon we all packed up and headed back home. On the way home, Brett and I decided to try and go through the sheep tunnel. I have only ever been in it one other time (years ago on Halloween) but this was the first time I had actually been all the way through it.

It was nice to get out of town for a while with friends, new and old, but nothing beats one-on-one time with my love!
