First time on the track

The whole gang down at Outlaw decided to take this past Saturday off to have a group riding day. Pat, Curtis, Kenney, Dustin, Brett and I all loaded up our quads and bikes and headed to a track out in Kannaraville. C.J. and Lacie even met up with us after a while. I have ridden on trails and in the dunes, but this was the first time that I had ever ridden on a track before. I was really nervous that I would be in the way and almost let that get in the way of me riding. But after a few pep talks from Brett I decided to just go out and have fun...which I did! The first jump that I got to I nose-dived so hard that my chest almost hit the handle bars. After a few times around the track, I got more comfortable and was actually able to jump my quad a little. After a little convincing, Brett talked me into trying out Pat's 450F.
Brett mostly rode his bike, but after a bit he decided to jump on Curtis's quad and ride with me. We rode around the track for a minute, but then the chain on Brett's quad broke.  There was another rider out on the track that wasn't with our group.  He came around the turn and barely saw Brett in time. He hit the brakes and wrecked pretty hard. I felt bad that he wrecked and that his bike got messed up so badly, but I'm more grateful that neither him nor Brett were seriously hurt. We managed to fix the chain so that Dustin could ride a little and Curtis could mess around on the quad.

The day started out beautiful.  Sun was out and the wind was fairly calm.  But, in typical Southern Utah fashion, our good fortune only lasted for a little while.  We called it a day when the wind started to pick up.
After we finished riding, Brett and I headed to St. George to see one of my best friends, Heather and her new baby. Since her little girl had already been born they said it was more of a "meet the baby" than the baby shower that it was. Brett was such a good sport to come with me (don't worry, he wasn't the only boy).  It was so good to be able to meet up with some of my really good friends from St. George and to get to see Heather and her cute family. It is so funny how good friends can go long periods of time without seeing each other and pick up like they just saw each other the day before.  I am so grateful to have such wonderful people in my life!
