First successful ride of the year!

After our epic failure to ride over Easter weekend, Brett and I decided to sell the KX250 and get me a racing quad instead. It wasn't the next day before we found out that one of Brett's good friends was looking to sell his 400EX and get into dirt bikes.  We showed him the bike and test drove his quad and worked out a trade!

So over the weekend, I talked Brett into taking me for a ride.  We went out to Three Peaks, unloaded, and headed out towards Two Thousand Flushes.  We have taken this trail several times, but it's one of my favorites. I am no expert rider, but I was convinced that we had made a good trade before we even finished our ride.  I was able to keep up with Brett easier and felt 100x more comfortable on the 400EX.
There was a small land slide that covers part of the road going down to the bottom of Two Thousand Flushes, but Brett decided that we could make it over the slide and go all the way to the bottom. He rode his dirt bike over first and then came back and rode my quad over, just to see how it felt (a.k.a. if I could do it). We got to the bottom and it was so pretty! The water is so clear and so blue, but freezing cold! On the way up, Brett talked me into driving over myself.  I was a little nervous, but after the ride over here and feeling so much more comfortable on the quad than on a dirt bike, I decided to do it. He has a different opinion on what happened, but since he isn't the one blogging you get to hear my version :) He told me to not be nervous and stay high, so when I started to go over I steered high...which apparently is different than staying high.  About halfway over the slide, my back end started to slide down.  I don't know how, but I managed to stay calm and maneuver over without dying :) Brett says it wasn't that bad, but I was so scared I thought I was going to puke!

I'm so grateful to have a husband that has similar interests as me and can put up with me :)
