For the past three years my family has rented a cabin up at Panguitch Lake to go spoke elk hunting. Brett and I hadn't been able to go the past couple years because of other commitments, but we were able to make it this year. And I am so GLAD! My family may be a little crazy and overwhelming sometimes, but I absolutely love getting to spend time with them.
I have been having more issues with my sciatic nerve lately (I have a herniated disc that is pinching it), so I was really nervous about being able to go out and hunt. Unfortunately I wasn't able to hike much, but I did manage to go out opening morning and then do some road hunting the rest of the weekend. A special thanks to my Dad and my wonderful husband for putting up with a cripple the whole weekend!
Taking a nap to recuperate from a hard days work...or.....a hard days play I guess would be more appropriate
I just had to put this picture ha ha. Poor Teryn....
My parents (mostly my mom) makes a special effort every year to do activities with all the grandkids. Definitely the most entertaining part was the Rock Star performance by all the grandkids. They got all dolled up and put on quite a show!
My dad took a couple of the kids on a little horse ride...until his horse decided to through a tantrum and fall backwards onto him and then step on his leg. No worries....dad is a trooper and just had a few bruises to his leg and maybe his ego :)
Right about the time when most of the family started to go home, Brett and Zack went off for a ride in our side by side. There is absolutely no cell phone service and after a couple of hours....everyone started to get really nervous. We sent out a couple of search parties and the boys headed out for the evening hunt. They had blown a tire and had started walking back to the cabin when, luckily, my dad found them. Zack had been driving and one tire slipped into a rut. When it did, it made a loud pop/crack noise and jerked them pretty hard to the side. I guess Zack panicked and hit the gas instead of the brakes and they went for a ride out through the sagebrush. Luckily no one was hurt and there was not too much damage to "Agnes". When they slipped into the rut, the had hit a rock or something just right so that it made the tire rim shatter. Krista and I were so worried, but we are glad that it wasn't worse!!
We usually get to take a whole family picture, but Kym was in a hurry to get on the road (they have a very long drive to Logan) and we were not able to round everyone up for the picture, but luckily we were able to get a girls picture (except Christine...she was out hunting). I am so grateful for these wonderful ladies and love each of them so much!
